Connecting communities, infrastructure, organisations and expertise across the West Midlands to support NIHR’s mission to transform health and care research, for the health and wealth of our region and the wider UK.
One NIHR West Midlands brings together NIHR-funded research infrastructure across the region to strengthen collaboration, strategic alignment and shared impact.
Across the West Midlands, we host over 25 NIHR-funded research infrastructure that support early-stage, translational and applied health and care research. Together, this infrastructure provides access to specialist facilities, research expertise, a highly skilled research delivery workforce, and the systems and support needed to conduct high-quality research at scale.
By connecting NHS organisations, universities, local authorities and wider partners with our local communities, we support collective action across shared priorities. These include community engagement and involvement, research inclusion, commercial collaboration, and the development of research capacity and capability.
Through One NIHR West Midlands, we aim to make this regional research ecosystem more visible, connected and impactful, helping research better meet the needs of patients, the public, the health and care system, and the wider economy.
